Suddenly solemn our world did go
Shuddering fear fills our hearts
Isolate, separate, stay far apart
Once blissful, our souls full of woe.

Frantic, we fell under wide shadow
Dismantled, our solid rampart
Unkindly surprised, given no head start
Dissolved and faded our rainbow.

Disease spreads like fire, mountain to plain
Sequestered, restricted, we hide
Innocent, we suffer a sinister scourge.

Sidewalks go silent while humankind strains
Flustered, frustrated, losing our stride
Fear feasts on fear, we are fully engorged.

No one on Earth knows not of this plight
All are affected, it’s massive in scope
Suddenly, all we can .. do … is …. cope
As news catapults us into fright.

“Experts” say symptoms take a fortnight
Remain home? Venture out? It’s a slippery slope!
In the storm, the thing with feathers: HOPE
Humankind reaches with all of its might.

Uncertainty rains down, unprecedented in time
We must find the soul’s strength; seek comfort from above
Hold firm to that which becomes your guardrail.

We can stop the knell from its sorrowful chime!
Faith is the start and with heart set on love
We shall – every one – steadfastly prevail!
